Work Horse

In class we had to read an essay “Why Do We Work?” from Andrew Curry, there was a study about emotions connected to work, “More than half of the emotion was negative…” I can totally see how this is but I’m the opposite. Work can be tough at times but I don’t think about that because it will just make your whole day slower. The best thing I do after working so much is relaxing for a little because if you don’t then it gets overwhelming, which can cause more things to get more stressful.
Work is my stress reliever, I know that sounds really funny but I love to work and work hard. Its not only to make money for bills to pay but also for experience. My whole life has been around sports and construction. I can still remember going to a job site with my dad when I was little, I can even remember wearing a hard hat and trying to hammer things. My dad always told me to have great work ethic, “do everything to the fullest” I still hear it today.

Opportuntiy is Everywhere

Opportunity is everywhere but a lot of people don’t realize its right in front of them or like I used to be, afraid of new things or the unknown. When I graduated high school I moved out and life hit me quick, I learned that in this day in age you have to take every opportunity that comes and also to go find opportunity yourself. I was always hesitant on new things because I was afraid to fail but I learned from some class readings that failure brings success.  We have also covered a lot about work and economy in class; I believe opportunity works hand-in-hand with those. I have noticed that if you sit back and watch instead of getting out there and making a name for yourself or whatever it might be. For a college student this is the best lesson you could use, every semester we basically compete to get classes and in college opportunity is everywhere around campus. All we have to do is have a competitive mind set.

Opportunity does not knock, it presents itself when you beat down the door.” –Kyle Chandler

"Goosebumps"

Tuesdays with Morrie is by far my favorite novel and I will forever keep this novel for life lessons I could look back on when I grow old. Ever since I picked this novel, I have fallen deeper and deeper into Morrie’s beliefs about life and also his own experiences in life. Slowly I'm changing my life and Morrie has an imact on that. I have always struggled with reading because I could never retain anything I read, however this novel has transformed me into loving to read and now I feel like a much better reader. I can comfortably say now that I like to read and enjoy reading. All it took was to find that one book to give me a spark for reading.

There was one specific quote in the book that hit me hard and I really felt like I was there. This was when Morrie asked Janine to sing for him, while she sang that song and started to read those lyrics I developed “goosebumps” like I was one getting sung for.

“Morrie closed his eyes to absorb the notes. As my wife’s loving voice filled the room, a crescent smile appeared on his face. And while his body was stiff as a sandbag, you could almost see him dancing inside it.” (Pg.146)

Hatchet

Hatchet written by Gary Paulsen. The author hails from Minneapolis, Minnesota and never was a great student but one day started to read and became a great reader. He was in war for a while and wrote some books based from those experiences as well. I also learned that his father was an alcoholic and he ran away from home very young. This book has a great story about a boy and also a particular secret that plans to tell his father. This book had a great taste of survival, struggling, and success. In the end Brian the main character is able to figure these three things out very quickly and it almost costs him his own life.

Hatchet was definitely the first book I can finally say I ENJOYED reading and never wanted to put it down. Brian only being thirteen years old was the first thing that struck me because how is a little boy going to be able to figure out how to survive alone in the wild. Just like in the real world we are learning how to survive in different ways, Brian had to think quickly and adapt, which helped him survive and be successfully rescued. Into the Wild and Hatchet are my two favorite books and I do believe they carry the same message, “Can You Surviving on Your Own”? On a personal level this impacted a great deal because now I want to read more and more about maybe what happened after Brian was rescued.

Corona vs. Budweiser

Corona Extra
The Product being pushed here is Corona Extra. The hook seems to be all the people standing on the beach. The audience is anyone who wants to have fun on the beach. When I look deeper into this picture I can tell that there are a lot of people who love to go to the beach and have a good time anywhere they are. I feel like having girls in this picture is a big way to win over a lot of men to buy their beer because men are always looking for the easiest way to get some girls in their party.

Budweiser
The product here is Budweiser. The hook seems to be the chilled look the three beers have. The audience seems to be for people who like to drink but maybe not to get wasted but just to chill.
Looking at this picture tells me that Budweiser is going to be chilled just like the picture is and will be crisp and refreshing every time you get one. To me it also seems this beer is more for men who are looking for a genuine tasting beer. Unlike the Corona picture, Budweiser is making there product mouth watering by using the ice factor.

Failure is the Fuel to my Fire for Success

Success is the most wonderful feeling in the world. Success is the best revenge for people who say you’re going to fail. For me success took awhile to get to with some things, but when I became successful I felt happy and accomplished. I always give a hundred percent in everything I do so that there is no chance for failure. Funny thing I notice all in individuals is that people have a phobia about failure but really failure is a great learning experience and motivator. You can't be successful without some failures or mistakes, that’s what will make you stronger in the end. I take all my mistake and failures that have happened and use them for fuel for my fire to the road to success.

The Giver

I have read this novel once before and so far this has been great reading experience. I deffinately feel like I am understanding this novel way easier and the theme has popped out for me way faster then before. The theme I feel that this novel is putting together is a "Structured" community. It's a little community that has a lot of rules and accustoms that can't be broken. If broken then you are "Released", which is worst thing that can happen in the community. I can't wait to finish the book and see what is to come bbecause I can't remember it from before.
